A domain name is the “address” you will use for your website.  You purchase a domain name from a “Registrar”.  Registrars are companies that allow you purchase the use of a domain name for a given period of time, starting at one year.  The Registrar also allows you to administer your domain name, meaning that once your create a website, you will “point” your domain name to your new website at your host.
